2026/27 season. No classes over the Christmas break (21 Dec – 1 Jan), Carnival (9 Feb), Easter (22–26 Mar) and public holidays. Extra rehearsals before shows cost nothing more.
Straight from Jamaica to Amadora
Much more than dance
Swagga Dem is Cláudia Oliveira's dancehall school. She started gathering dancers in 2010; in 2017 the group became a proper studio. Dancehall — the Jamaican street dance born out of 1970s reggae — is the whole point: at 21, Cláudia went to Jamaica to live the culture at the source.
The crew has moved spaces over the years and now meets in the AJEM space on Praceta da Quinta do Bosque. The kids who started in 2010 are young adults now, and the mothers' group grew from three mums to about twenty women.
Community, progress, shows: that's the motto. The students put it their own way — "a real family, whoever walks in gets the warmest welcome".
